[W10] Aggressive Little Devils
They bite!
In our last devlog, we told you that we were able to implement enemies that start following you around when you invade their personal space. However this was only implemented in an offline/local context (for experimentation purposes) and, therefore, still a work in progress. We are happy to report that we have deployed this feature in an online multiplayer setting. And there's more! Not only do these mobs chase you around, they attack too! And they won't stop until you flee far away or die★ like the vermin you are. We have also revamped their appearance with some cool sprites made by Deep Dive Game Studio. Say hi to the aggressive little devils!
They are cool, right? In the video shown below you'll be able to see the implemented behaviour.
As you may have noticed, the mobs start attacking as soon as they are in melee range. When a player runs away and leaves the sensory area of the angry creatures, they become idle (in the future, they should start wandering around). However, if another player is in range when their original target flees, that player will become the new target.
With this devlog we have included a build for you to try. You will also notice that the procedurally generated maps are fully integrated with a simple spawning of creatures, sprinkling some here and there. Moreover, when all the players are ready to play, a «wait screen» is shown while the map is loading.
That's all we have for this week. Stay tuned for future updates!
★ Dying hasn't been implemented yet, coming very soon™
